Monthly Play Reading Series
LAST SUNDAY OF EVERY MONTH
NEXT READING: SUNDAY DECEMBER 28 @ 7:30 (RSVP for Location)
‘Dinner Theatre’ is a new play reading club with a tasty twist for theatre practitioners, admirers, and future practitioner/admirers presented by Avant-Guardian. On the last Sunday of each month, AG Founder & Artistic Director, Zachary Hines, hosts members in his living room to break bread and share in the experience of hearing a play together. Admission is Pay-What-You-Can ($10 suggested donation) and all funds benefit Avant-Guardian projects. Food & Wine will be provided, but Members are encouraged to bring a dish to share and even participate as a reader every now and then (though neither are required!)
HOW IT WORKS
Everyone’s invited! So fill out our form below to sign up. Be sure to let us know if you plan on bringing a dish to share and if you’d rather be a reader or observer!
AWAIT FURTHER INSTRUCTION
Once you RSVP, we will email you a few days later with a .pdf of the script, directions to Zachary’s home, and more information on what to expect!
READ, EAT, PLAY
No stress! Enjoy the company of new and old friends, break bread together, and read a play. Each experience will consist of a pre and post discussion on the themes and history of the play.
JUDGEMENT DAY by ODON VON HORVATH
DECEMBER 28 @ 7:30PM
It’s another normal day at a small-town station, where a handful of passengers are waiting for the stopping train. Thomas Hudetz, the well-liked station master, is momentarily distracted by a young woman. Seconds later eighteen people are dead. Standing in the wreckage of the 405 Express, can Thomas accept the truth that is hurtling towards him? If not, how long can he postpone the day of judgment? Christopher Hampton’s translation of Odon von Horvath’s “Judgment Day” premiered at the Almeida Theatre, London, in September 2009.
